There used to be a thread on this but not anymore so I started a new one. I dont know if anyone else on here is home schooled there used to be a lot of home schoolers but I dont know if there are anymore.there are a lot of people who were on here but havent posted anything for months.like greeneyes.I hardly met her and then she went to Chicago for Christmas and she hasent been on here sense. anyway I have home schooled all my life and I love the freedom.I dont just sit around all day though,I like structure but not to much. my brothers (I have four and three are school aged) like to slack of which makes it hard for my Mom. at the end of saying the Rosary every day I ask St Elizabeth Ann Seton to pray for my family becouse she's kind of a patron saint of home schoolers and I geuss my Mom could use any help.Im not saying she's a bad teacher she's a great teacher just very busy home schooling four kids and taking care of a 1 yr. old and a 3 yr. old besides is very stressfull Im sure.I try to do my part to make it easyier and Mom say's I do. I like that I can take some time off and go shopping during the week and it's not busy couse everyones at school. ----------- Holly

Cool! my Confirmation teachers said that it's just nice to have a saint who you can turn to and ask to pray for you.and their supposed to a role model. mine is Saint Bakhita my favrite saint ever. her story is so amazing. we were actually talking about our confirmation names at confirmation class last night.the other names people have picked are: Anne,Paul,Rose (St. Rose of Lima),Francis (the female one),Mary, and Bridget. yeah we have a pretty small class and theres only two guys (one wasent there last night). its nicer than having a huge class though I think.if we had a huge class we couldent have pizza nights and do other fun stuff. --------- Holly

yeah, I was wondering where greeneyes went. And she was the biggest talker on this board! Well, I am not home schooled- I'm public schooled. And St. Rita is a cool saint. Have you watched the movie about her? It's pretty good. I chose St. Philomena (she's not a very well known saint). ---------- -Thalita Amor vincit omni- Love conquers all

I'm homeschooled. Greeneyes used to be on like every single day, and we had smiley wars. We had to make a whole topic about that because it was annoying to have to scroll so far through so many smilies. I am surprised that the other homeschool thread got deleted, we have probably a few of the most coherent discussions on there (lol, I'm not kidding.) Christia4Ever used to be on all the time, too. Now I hardly get on, you guys have been keeping it plenty busy! (Sorry, this is off topic.)

yeah I know but we always kind of drift from the topic. and we dont have very many threads were we just talk anymore which is sad couse I really liked talking with everyone and there are so many games that its replacing talking. it kind of defeats the purpose of this board.its called true talk not true game.and I dont want to offend anyone the games are fun but its just to much.it isant even very fun getting on here anymore.when I first got on here there was still some of the charm left in it but then it changed.we should carry on the talking and have a little less gaming. --------- Holly

another thing we should work on is having less threads couse we start a new topic for everything which makes it a little harder. hey relientkrocks how is the weather in chicago? it was really nice today and the ice across the street is starting to melt. Im so happy,my Mom ordered Jane Eyre for me! I hope I can talk her into getting common sense 101 and some Jane Austen books.Im well into little women now.it's so good.I wish I had it in hardcover. I didnt do any schooling today.I dont feel super great so I spent the morning reading and at noon I went to get my bangs trimed then me and my Mom went to get paint samples.sadly my room isant getting painted on friday cause my Dad is working then which I suppose is good but kind of stinks.Im going to do it pale green but I havent picked a exact shade yet there are so many pretty ones.my Mom and I are going to make a purple and green floral quilt for my bed:) I cant wait. --------- Holly

yes, I kind of agree with you. There is a lot of gaming, which I think is fun, but there's got to be a balance. I like the old, old true girl forum where they had one big folder with a subject like "Fashion" and "Religion" or whatever, and inside those there would be little threads. But TG is new and it's kind of hard to start something like that. I like it the way it is! and your bedroom sounds really nice! I almost picked green when I had my room painted, but I picked orange instead. which sounded kind of bold, but in the end it was good because it's kind of rusty colored orange, not the bright, flourescent type. ---------- -Thalita Amor vincit omni- Love conquers all

It snowed. You would never believe it was 60 degrees last week. Well now it's getting warmer...XP
That's awesome! I'm probably not going to have my room re-painted because I like the way it is. The bottom half of my room is maroon-ish red and the top half is white. I want to change my curtains though. They're really ugly. They have dark and dull red/green/blue rectangles all over them. As I said, they're really ugly. ok I have questions for the homeschoolers...because I don't really understand it because i've never been homeschooled and it sounds pretty cool! ok my Homeschoolers questionairre.....
1) Is it difficult to make friends when you're not in a school and how do you make friends? 2) why did your parents choose to Homeschool you? 3) Is it hard to spend so much time with siblings? 4) how do your parents teach subjects-once you get to high school-like chemistry, biology, Calculus and how do you get to do labs? 5) Is it hard to have your mom or dad as your teacher? 6) who teaches you- your mom or dad? 7) What's the best part of being homeschooled? 8) What's the worst part of being homeschooled? 9) do you like being homeschooled? ---------- Life has got to be lived, that's all there is to it. -Eleanor Roosevelt

1) It's easy to make friends! Your not limited to a few friends, you meet them everywhere! The best part of it is I get a huge outlook of the world, I have friends of different ages and it shows me that friends just kinda come to you.
2)My parents choosed to homeschool me because they wanted to teach me, and spend time with me.
3) No!!!!! Siblings will always be there and when you homeschool they really are your BEST friends. You learn to get along (sometimes) and have tons of fun together.
4)I'm not in high school yet, I don't know how to answer this question. Sorry!
5) No, because your parents know what you need. My mom knows when to help and when to let me figure it out on my own. It's amazing!
6) My mother.
7) You learn good social skils. Like how to deal with siblings . ( Which I sure your learn in school too.)
8) I don't know, I can't think of anything off hand.
9) Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1) Is it difficult to make friends when you're not in a school and how do you make friends? It is only if you choose it. I'm very active with my church and youth group and that's where I meet them. 2) why did your parents choose to Homeschool you? They wanted me to start school a year early. 3) Is it hard to spend so much time with siblings? A bit, but it's no different than classmates. 4) how do your parents teach subjects-once you get to high school-like chemistry, biology, Calculus and how do you get to do labs? My mom and dad both have higher degrees so they could pick up some of it. I did some virtual labs online and went on to take college classes at a community college where I could complete labs(calculus and chemistry) 5) Is it hard to have your mom or dad as your teacher? Not really 6) who teaches you- your mom or dad? My mom usually. My dad is a great history teacher but I have no patience for his lectures. 7) What's the best part of being homeschooled? Hmm being able to work school around my schedule. 8) What's the worst part of being homeschooled? No Spirit Days, no dances, no random days off. 9) do you like being homeschooled? Most of the time, it's become part of who I am.

I should get a journal to write down my dreams. oh no!!!:( I just realized I forgot to give my friend her birthday gift!:( how on earth could I forget I whenever I thought to we where eating or something. some people and mabye her (idk) are going to be in the neighbor hood on saturday so mabye they could get it then.it stinks couse I got it on tuesday and had it all ready.oh I feel so dumb! she must think Im the worst friend, she always gives me gifts on time.her birthday is on the ninth so it's not late yet but I was hoping to give it to her then. ---------- I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.~Michelangelo

I have a locker, but being the boring person I am, there's only a schedule hanging from it. I just finished my science project with my friend. We tested the placebo effect. We baked 3 kinds of cookies (snickerdoodle, choco chip, and my famous carrot oatmeal cookies) We tested 60 people and half of them were given cookies with appealing names (Home-baked Cinnamon Sugar Snickerdoodle, Rich Chocolate Chip Cookie, Cinnamon Brown Sugar Oatmeal Cookie) and the other half were given cookies with boring names (Cookie with Cinnamon, Plain Cookie, Carrot Oatmeal Cookie). We compared the ratings of the guys and girls. The placebo effect works a lot better for the guys than the girls. ---------- Choose life! Okay I thought your homeschool questionare, Racharola10, was a wonderful idea! So I am making one for non-homeschoolers. Here is my questionare, private schoolers and public schoolers......
1) Do you ever feel as if the class is holding you back? Does it ever happen that your ready to go on in a subject but the class isn't. 2) Do you get to see you family enough? 3) What's the BEST thing about school. 4) What's the worst thing about your school? 5) Why did your parents decide to send you to a public school or private school? 6) Do you like your school? Back to homeschooling........ Do any of you play the violin? ---------- A Friend is someone who knows all about you and loves you anyway!!! ~ Unknown.

1) Sometimes, but not mostly. Especially in high school, either you keep up or fall behind. 2) Yeah, why wouldn't I? 3) Diversity! Get to meet lots of different people and make friends, also a variety of class choices and awesome teachers. 4) Waking up early. Also it's "attitude". Aaaallll that matters (for the people who run it) is looking good in front of everyone else. Especially the principal! He wants to be THE best so he buys fancy-schmancy stuff so that people will ooh and aah about our school when really: the orchestra needs money, the dance department needs mirrors, the art teacher needs paper! Sorry for that rant but that's how Ardrey Kell is. argh!! 5) Public school because... there's no reason not to go. My parents teach the Faith at home, it's just as good an education, and I learn to deal with/interact with different kinds of people. 6) Yes!! I mean school is school and no body really likes it. I am happy! 7. I don't play the violin but I do play the cello in the school orchestra. and after 3 years of Mr.F screaming at the violins, I pretty much know all the notes and stuff, I just have never actually played one. ---------- -Thalita Run as so to win! speaking of music Im teaching myself Jeus,Joy Of Man's Desiring.if you arent familiar with it its very pretty and it is hard learning cause I am figuring it out pretty much on my own.no music sheet or anything I have a sheet I found from our zithar (spelling?) but it dosent have notes or anything so I strugled imesly but I finally figured out which keys to use and wrote them out.I cant read music yet.cant wait till I can. I find some of the things they teach in public school's are very un prolife. and they teach that people of the same gender should be able to get married do they not? my Mom went to school and her class went at the pace of the people who were best at whatever subject, for instance math.and my Mom is not dumb. and I like doing schooling.I like to feel that Im doing something to better myself. I think I worded that wrong (#1). I mean to say that you can choose your class level (advanced, standard, etc.) The teacher will help you as much as she/he can, but they won't keep the whole class behind. well, really they don't teach any of that stuff. actually it's a "touchy" subject (like religion), so teachers don't really talk about it unless it's health or biology class. And even then, it doesn't promote anything, it just puts it out there and lets the students make their own decision. For example, I'm in health class now and that's when they talk STD's and all that. They give you 'options' like condoms, pills, and abstinence. In fact, they strongly emphasize abstinence as the best, "safest" way. That's part of the nationwide curriculum. As far as gay marriage, teachers don't talk about it or promote it. The students do sometimes, but that's when you can step in and educate them, why it's bad and so on. So they don't teach morals, no, but that's what my parents do. Really it's all up to them. I mean, even if you go to traditional catholic school and your parents don't teach you the importance of the faith, you would lose it, right? It's the same; I get my formation from my family and church, and am able to share it to people who would otherwise not know. ---------- -Thalita Run as so to win!
